Almost a Year Later and a Dollar Richer (Not Really)

Yo!

Again. How time flies. It's been over a year since I blogged and I think I should begin again. (omg I'm a middle aged woman now). Even if no one reads it. It could prove therapeutic. A lot! Has happened.

First Real Job!
I got my first real job outside of theatre and quit a year later. It was an experience that I am grateful I was able to have. In that year a learned a lot about workmanship and the time and care a job really must have. And of course, it proved that I can not do anything BUT theatre. I met some wonderful people along the way that had a lasting effect on me and the way I think about work.

SIDE NOTE: I know how to save money now.

NEW JOB

And somehow the luck kept rolling in! Bless my stars...really...I used to work with a theatre program in downtown Chicago for high school students, Performing in musicals in the summer (and spring and fall sometimes) . Long story short, I became the choreographer and choreographed my first musical. Apparently I did something right because the director asked me back for the fall/spring/summer. It has been the greatest experience that I ever had. Learning with kids as you teach them. Its like looking through a mirror. Seeing yourself and were you started.

(Another) New Job
To make my work-life even better. I landed a job at school in the musical theatre department as one of the two assistants. I have an office. I have a desk. I have a lamp....a LAMP! It's basically the devil wears prada without the crazy boss. But I couldn't be happier. Working within school and being able to focus on theatre. THEATRE.

(Another, Another) New Job
Assistant Directing a faculty project here at school got me to meet this wonderful woman who is creating a new theatre company. I am now their intern. (More news to come on this!)

Directing,Choreographing and BEYOND!
The Musical Theatre Collective is an amazing organization that I am lucky to be a part of here at Columbia College. They (we now) produce student directed and created works. A dear friend of mine and myself are creating a musical Revue based on Sheldon Patinkin's book 'No Legs, No Jokes, No Chance'. We go into rehearsals in December! Its coming up fast and I'm scared but I cannot wait to explore this new world that has been opened to me. It wasn't originally what I set out to do but who knows. This could be it.

AHHHHHHH
my life is going at warp speed. To be honest, I'm scared but life couldn't be better. Its funny because I would have never thought I'd be where I am now.

Stay tuned.......
